24-hour Holter monitoring

This is a form of ambulatory monitoring that provides for

the detection and identification of a rhythm disturbance

associated with symptoms. It is generally reserved for

once per day. The individual's heart rhythm is being recorded

continuously for a complete 24-hour period after which the

recording tape is replayed and the tracings are set aside for

review. Activities as well as symptoms are entered into the

diary so that a meaningful correlation between symptoms

and rhythm disturbance can be made.
